MTR (Mass Transit Railway)The MTR is an extensive subway system interconnecting Hong Kong Island, Kowloon, the New Territories and Lantau Island.

BusBuses in Hong Kong are plentiful and comfortable, and air-conditioned. Especially popular are the double-deckers that offer great views of the surrounding city from the top deck.
Bus routes cover almost all of Hong Kong. Kowloon Motor Bus, New World First Bus and Citybus operate routes that cover Hong Kong Island, Kowloon and the New Territories. New Lantao Bus mainly operates on Lantau Island and Long Win Bus provides services to north Lantau Island and the airport. |

Red minibuses are free to operate anywhere, except where special prohibitions apply, without control over routes or fares.
Green minibuses operate on fixed routes at fixed fares. |
TaxiTaxis in Hong Kong are a bargain in comparison to many other international cities.
Different taxis have designated operating areas. Urban taxis (in red) operate in most areas in Hong Kong except Tung Chung Road and South Lautau.
New Territories taxis (in green) mainly operate in the North-eastern part of Hong Kong (the rural area); Lantau taxis (in blue) operate only on Lantau Island.

Star FerryAn icon of the city for decades, the Star Ferry offers a leisurely 7-minute ride across the Victoria Harbour for just HK$ 2.5-3.4.
There is one just about every 5 minutes, operating from early in the morning until 11pm. It covers two routes: one between TsimShaTsui and Central, and one between TsimShaTsui and Wanchai.

TramsThe historic double-decker tramway runs on Hong Kong Island between Shau Kei Wan and Kennedy Town, with a branch in Happy Valley. It has been in operation since 1904 and is a popular sightseeing attraction.
